My Platinum Makeup Journey

Last week I reached a milestone that has been several months in the making.  I reached Platinum buyer status at Ulta!  Oh, you thought I was going to say I completed a marathon or finished my MBA? Nope.  But it's not as vapid as it sounds!  With my wedding coming, I had enlisted my makeup artist friend Melissa to give me a lesson (check out her website: http://www.melissagossmakeup.com/).

After the first lesson I was hooked! I LOVED playing with my makeup and learning new techniques.  I would practice my wedding look and then started looking up tutorials for every day looks on YouTube...and then I realized my makeup supplies were lacking a few essentials.

By the time my Vegas wedding rolled around in September my collection had grown a tad...

But I think the results were well worth it, no?  Most people don't get a full on dress rehearsal for their wedding so I got some good practice at going glam under pressure!  It's possible I looked better for the Vegas wedding than in Cancun.

 

I am by no means any sort of makeup guru at this point, but I do think I have come light years from where I started.  My friends even started to ask me how I do my makeup.

So here I am at the end of the year and taking stock of everything I bought and the skills I've learned in the last 6 months and having it all culminate in the look I created for our wedding in Cancun in November 2014.

I never thought I would be to develop any skills with makeup and I still have a long way to go to catch up to the makeup gurus on YouTube, but a good teacher and lots of practice will take you from zero to Platinum in 6 months!
