My Platinum Makeup Journey

Image
Last week I reached a milestone that has been several months in the making.  I reached Platinum buyer status at Ulta!  Oh, you thought I was going to say I completed a marathon or finished my MBA? Nope.  But it's not as vapid as it sounds!  With my wedding coming, I had enlisted my makeup artist friend Melissa to give me a lesson (check out her website: http://www.melissagossmakeup.com/ ). Here's the results and  products from my first lesson: After the first lesson I was hooked! I LOVED playing with my makeup and learning new techniques.  I would practice my wedding look and then started looking up tutorials for every day looks on YouTube...and then I realized my makeup supplies were lacking a few essentials. By the time my Vegas wedding rolled around in September my collection had grown a tad... But I think the results were well worth it, no?  Most people don't get a full on dress rehearsal for their wedding so I got some good practice...

George Lucas Ruins Another Franchise

It's a Sunday night and there's not much on but Spike is running an Indiana Jones marathon and we have reached the end.  Yeah, I'm that out of anything else to watch to I'm voluntarily watching "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". As I sit here wide eyed at the level of terrible that this movie and more specifically Shia Labeouf is (I can't even be bothered to spell check his name on IMDB), I realize I really shouldn't be that surprised or offended, should I?  Just go with me here...over 2 decades after the last installment George Lucas believes he FINALLY has a script that is good enough to pull Spielberg and Ford back.    Hollywood has some really short term memory b/c the LAST time George dusted off some old characters decades after their last appearance we got Jar Jar Binks.  But because his movies have made a bazillion dollars over the years and everyone my age has been dying for another Indy movie, Paramount says "go for...

The Reluctant Bride

If there is one thing that anyone knows about me, it's that I abhorred the idea of having a wedding. While most girls are more like Monica from Friends with the book of wedding inspiration they've been building since they were a little girl, I was firmly in the "well that seems like a huge waste of time and money" camp!  I never "dreamed" about my wedding...things like the big white dress, walking down an aisle, the father/daughter dance, and bouquet toss gave me a migraine instead of a warm fuzzy feeling.  At most, I could see myself in a nightclub appropriate white dress and stylish heels getting married in Vegas a quickie chapel.  Maybe I could stand the thought of upgrading to one of the resort chapels if the price was right. I never hid this fact from my boyfriend and he never seemed to indicated he wanted otherwise. On May 22nd, 2012 we got engaged in Las Vegas (woo!) and on May 23rd we started to fight about the wedding. He said we needed to have a ...

2014 Italy Trip

Naples, Amalfi Coast, and Rome The Details : Dates :July 3 - July 10, 2014 Accommodations : Natalie Brown's Pozzuoli House,  Hotel Bellavista Francischiello , and Hotel Nerva Trip Advisor Review : Click  here  for my review of the Hotel Bellavista Francischiello Airline : United Photo Album : Click  here  for my album Getting There : Ahhhh for once we are not leaving at the crack of dawn and have a nice 6 PM flight directly to Rome, Italy from Dulles airport.  Except that it ended up being a nice 8 PM flight to due to weather issues in the NYC/Boston airspace. It ended up not being such a bad deal though b/c it left more time for movie viewing and put us a little closer to our natural sleep schedule.  Annnnd as an added bonus, no one sat in the seat next to us!  We started the evening off watching "300: Rise of an Empire", which was AWE-SOME.  Short break for dinner (wow an actual meal for once), I had the pasta, Tim had the ...
