2013 Napa/SF Trip - Pt. 2: Muir Woods - Terrifying Yet Beautiful!

Time to leave Napa behind and we're headed to Muir Woods National Monument to go look at some tall trees.  But before that, one small pit stop!

After getting off the highway we turn onto Rt. 1 and begin the twisty uphill climb to Muir Woods.  After struggling to find a parking space we finally enter the park and wow!  I feel like I just stepped onto Endor from Return of the Jedi.  The trees really are quite spectacular!

After a 1.5 mile walk, I was pretty tired but there was one last sight to see!
I Love Bears!
Next stop is Stinson Beach but the drive there really made us work for it! Nothing but twisty blind turns through hill after hill with no guardrail!  The view though when we got there was totally worth it!

A little cold for a beach day!
Time to head to SF but not before another 10 miles of crazy twisty roads...this time all at high elevation with nothing between us and Pacific Ocean!

The scenery on this drive was NUTS.  Tim is the nature guy, not me but I'm so glad we did this drive b/c you can't see anything that comes close to this on the east coast.
